Bodegas Vibe, a family winery located in El Azagador, in the historic wine-growing region of Utiel-Requena. The Denominación de Origen (DO) Utiel-Requena is a distinguished wine region in eastern Spain, located in the province of Valencia. This region is renowned for its long viticultural history, which dates back over 2,700 years, making it the oldest wine-producing areas in Spain. This detail is only known by a few, even in Spain. We are situated on a high plateau with an average altitude of around 700 meters above sea level. This elevation contributes to a unique micro climate characterized by hot, dry summers and cold winters—a continental climate moderated by the Mediterranean Sea, which is approximately 70 kilometres away. The combination of these climate conditions allows for the slow, balanced ripening of grapes, which is ideal for producing wines with intense flavours and robust character, like ours. Our location between the plateau and the Mediterranean Sea provides ideal conditions for grape cultivation, allowing perfect maturation and a unique expression of the character of our varieties. The soil in the Utiel-Requena region is predominantly composed of limestone and clay, which has excellent water retention properties. This helps sustain vineyards during the region's dry, hot summers. The predominant grape variety in Utiel-Requena is Bobal, which accounts for approximately 80% of all vines grown in the area. Bobal is native to the region and is known for producing deeply coloured, aromatic wines with a potential for aging. The grape is used to make a variety of wine styles, including robust reds, aromatic rosés. Apart from Bobal, other grape varieties include Tempranillo, Garnacha, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon for red wines, and Macabeo, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc for white wines and Cava. In summary, Utiel-Requena offers a fascinating combination of ancient tradition and modern innovation, producing distinctive wines that reflect the unique qualities of their terroir.
