The story of Hic et Nunc is recent, but the history of the land that gave birth to it is ancient, dating back to the early 1900s. This is when the vines found in the plots of Località Mongetto—just north of Vignale Monferrato—first took root, precisely where the winery's vineyards thrive today.
2012 marked a new beginning: Massimo Rosolen acquired 100 hectares of land and began a meticulous restoration process. First came the renovation of Ca’ Milano, then, attention turned to the vineyards, which were rehabilitated, reorganized, and replanted where necessary.
In 2016, the first vintages of Barbera, Grignolino, and Cortese were released. From the very start, Massimo’s vision was clear: to move away from mass production in favor of excellence, crafting Monferrato’s classic wines in-house.
2018 saw the beginning of construction on a cutting-edge winery—an immersive and sustainable space nestled among the vineyards. At the same time, Hic et Nunc deepened its enological research on local grape varieties, choosing to vinify them as single-varietal wines. The estate produces Barbera del Monferrato, Cortese del Monferrato Casalese, Nebbiolo del Monferrato, and, above all, Grignolino del Monferrato Casalese, which finds its ideal terroir in Vignale.
Continuing its exploration of indigenous varieties, in 2019, Hic et Nunc began investing in the revival of Baratuciat, an ancient grape from Val Susa that has rediscovered its potential in Basso Monferrato. Sparkling wines also remain a cornerstone of the winery’s portfolio, with two Metodo Classico and one Metodo Martinotti.
In 2020, the winery’s visitor center was inaugurated—an immersive, transparent space seamlessly integrated into the landscape, offering a firsthand experience of wine production. The project was designed by Bergamo-based architect Gianluca Erroi.
In 2021, Hic et Nunc embarked on the transition to organic farming, a journey marked by rigorous analyses and inspections. This commitment culminated in September 2024 with the organic certification of 25 hectares. This achievement reflects the winery’s dedication to upholding strict ecological standards, further enhancing the distinctiveness of its native grape varieties while ensuring farming and production methods that protect biodiversity and the environment.
