Podere Colle San Massimo is a young and dynamic farm, born in 2008 from the vision of its founders, Salvatore and Cinzia “the bear and the bee” who chose the splendid Abruzzo region, a land rich in culture and biodiversity, to bring their project to life.
The estate sits on the most beautiful hill of Giulianova, in the heart of the Colline Teramane, a territory that combines proximity to the Adriatic Sea with a hilly landscape ideally suited to viticulture. Here the founders built an entirely wooden, earthquake-resistant structure with six welcoming rooms equipped with every comfort, launching a project that pairs winemaking with hospitality.
The story of the vineyards
From Salvatore’s passion, the winemaking activity truly began: in 2009 the first hectare of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo was planted. In the following years, further plantings were added, bringing the vineyard area to over four hectares, divided between Passerina, Pecorino, and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.
Production philosophy
The farm’s philosophy is rooted in organic cultivation and limited yields, aiming to produce high-quality grapes by capturing the ideal moment for a selective harvest. The grapes are hand-picked and immediately transported to the cellar to avoid unwanted fermentation and loss of aromas. The result is clean, honest wines that strongly express their territory a product that reflects the personality of its producer.
More than wine
Podere Colle San Massimo doesn’t define itself solely as a winery, but as a broader project: the desire to pass on a passion for the land, for its fruits, and for the magnificent territory that allows them to be harvested. For this reason, the hospitality side and the winery are closely connected in a synergistic relationship, designed to offer guests a 360-degree experience immersed in the bucolic setting of one of the most captivating places in Abruzzo: from tastings to picnics among the hillside vineyards, to staying in a structure built with deep respect for the environment.
A family project in evolution
Today the estate retains a family and artisanal spirit, with a generational transition underway: Edoardo, an oenologist, is actively involved in technical management and is preparing to take on a more structured administrative role, bringing specific winemaking expertise to support the growth and continuity of the project started by Salvatore and Cinzia.
