Hand-harvested in late October. Protected by nets from hungry starlings, each bunch is carefully examined to determine whether it meets the standards for our Auslese. After gentle pressing, spontaneous fermentation takes place in small, used oak barrels. Once the desired level of residual sugar is reached, fermentation is stopped through filtration and the addition of sulphur dioxide. By bringing together several vintages, we create a harmonious blend where balance and pure drinking pleasure take centre stage.

In mid-August, the grapes are handpicked during the cool morning hours. After four hours of skin contact, they are gently pressed. The juice undergoes spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in used 500-litre oak barrels

About Andreas Gsellmann
Wine case – Frequently asked questions
What is a wine case?
A wine case holds six bottles from a single winery, with at least two different wines. It is built around a theme, region, grape or wine expert, and shipped directly from the winery. It is a simple way to get to know a new producer.
Are the wines in a wine case tasted before being added?
Yes. Every wine in a wine case has been tasted and approved as part of joining Free Grape Society. Independent wine experts on the platform can add their own ratings and reviews on top, so you often see several perspectives on the same bottle. Nothing reaches the wine case without being vetted first.
Can I choose the wines in my wine case?
It depends on the wine case. Some are pre-curated by a wine expert or a producer and shipped as a fixed selection. Others let you build your own six-bottle box from a defined range. The product page for each wine case tells you exactly which option applies, so you always know what you're picking.
Why does a wine case always contain six bottles?
Six bottles is the format that gives you enough variety to explore different styles without overcommitting, and it matches the standard packing unit used across the European wine trade. That keeps shipping efficient and prices fair. Every wine case on Free Grape Society is six bottles, no exceptions.
How is a wine case delivered?
A wine case is shipped directly from the producer to your home in a single tracked shipment. There is no warehouse step in between. The wine leaves the cellar and arrives at your door. Delivery time depends on the producer's location and your market, and is shown on the product page.
Where do the wines in a wine case come from?
The wines in a wine case come directly from small-scale, independent wine producers across Europe. Each bottle ships from the winery itself, never from a central warehouse or middleman. You're buying directly from the people who made the wine, which is one of the founding principles of the society.
What's included in the price of a wine case?
The price you see on a wine case is the full price. Taxes, VAT, and shipping are all included, so what you see at checkout is what you pay. Because every wine case ships directly from the producer with no warehouse step, there are no hidden markups along the way.
Can a wine expert help me pick the right wine case?
Yes. Independent wine experts on Free Grape Society can recommend a wine case based on your taste profile or the occasion. You can browse their profiles, see what they've curated, and ask them a question directly. Their advice is free, and they are a core part of the society.
How do I get personal wine recommendations on Free Grape Society?
You can get personal wine recommendations by following an independent wine expert on Free Grape Society or by asking them a direct question through their profile. Experts match you based on your taste, so the advice feels personal, not generic. Join the society to start getting recommendations that fit how you actually drink.
