About us
We are a Family traditional winery built in 2001 but renewed in 2011. The owners are Paco García and his wife Julia. Those are the ones that built the winery in 2001 but in 2008 their son Juan decided to change the philosophy of wines. moving them to a modern, fruit-driven and elegant style. Something set apart in Rioja.
Bodegas Paco García winery is situated in the village of Murillo alongside the Río Leza river, in the Rioja Denomination of Origin in Spain. This winery has grapevines situated at 1,380 feet (420 Meters) above sea level in a small valley between the Sierra Cantabria in the northeast, and the Clavijo Mountains in the southeast. The Valley is a valley in the form of a “trough”, in which the slopes of the valley move away from the channel, so that the river runs through a plain of sediments called “alluvial plain”, very characterized by its pebble soils, mineral deposits and clays.
Bodegas Paco García owns 40 hectares of red vines and 7 hectares of white vines spread out over seven different vineyards in the region. These vineyards cultivate the white Tempranillo, red Tempranillo, Grenache, Graciano and Mazuelo grapes used to produce this winery´s red wine under the Rioja DOCa. All the Bodegas Paco García wine’s grapes are picked manually from our vineyards.
From 2017, Rioja has wines that place the focus on their specific origin or terroir. The goal is to valorise a unique origin, to recognise its diversity and to continue setting strict requirements to assure the quality of its wines. This legislation establishes for the DOCa Rioja still wines three different categories: Vinos de Zona (Area Wines), Vinos de Municipio (Village Wines) and Viñedo Singular (Single Vineyard Wines).
According with these new geographical indications that respect and complement the traditional and successful range of blend-based wines and join the ageing categories, Bodegas Paco García is focus on a new high-quality project that identify their DOCa Rioja Wines by their specific origin or terroir as following:
