About us
Quinta da Amoreira da Torre is located in Montemor o Novo, in the Alentejo,Portugal, and was bought by the family of the current owners around 100 years ago, at the beginning of the 20th century. The vineyard benefits from a terroir characterised by granite and clay-limestone soils, very abundant groundwater, a Mediterranean climate, at an altitude of 240 metres and 72 kilometres from the Atlantic. This combination gives the wines freshness and minerality together with a marked and tasty acidity that gives them life and great ageing capacity. In 2005, going against the trend in the sector, the decision was taken to convert the entire vineyard and wine to Organic Production Mode, and it was the first vineyard in the Alentejo to certify organic Alentejo wines. Since 2005, the vineyard and all of Amoreira da Torre's wines have been certified organic and vegan. Viticulture at Amoreira da Torre endeavours to respect the quality and authenticity of the vines and grapes as much as possible, with artisanal practices and balanced yields per hectare. Winemaking is pure, based on our indigenous yeasts and without correcting the musts. The low Ph and high acidity of our grapes help to stabilise the wines and reduce the use of sulphur dioxide creating wines that we like and express the grapes much more than the winery.
